Image
In a renewed drive to restore Plateau State’s reputation as Nigeria’s “water bed,” the Managing Director of the Jos Water Services Corporation, Engr. Appolos Samchi, is leading a quiet but profound revolution. When members of the Mangu Journalists Forum, alongside our team from NEWS HUB NG, paid a courtesy visit to Engr. Samchi at his office in Jos, it was more than a familiarization meeting—it became a revelation of how much transformation has already taken place under his watch. Engr. Samchi, who assumed leadership at a time when the corporation was struggling with outdated infrastructure and low public confidence, has since repositioned the organization into a dynamic and technology-driven service agency. Restoring Aging Infrastructure One of the standout achievements of Engr. Samchi’s administration is securing a major grant for the rehabilitation of the Yakubu Gowon Dam, a 50-year-old facility that has long required urgent attention. Defections don't determine election results

Image
A national leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Ibrahim Mani, has asserted that voter defections alone cannot determine the outcome of elections. Addressing concerns about continual defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he insisted that such shifts do not automatically translate into success at the ballot box.  Mani explained the ADC’s confidence despite losing members to other parties: he believes that electoral victory requires more than numbers—it demands effective organisation, grassroots mobilisation and strong policy appeal. He claimed the APC’s influx of defectors “does not intimidate” the ADC and maintained that the party will contest upcoming elections with conviction. He further emphasised that while defections are a feature of Nigeria’s political scene, they should not overshadow the significance of credible nomination processes, voter education and public trust. For Mani, parties must focus on building lasting relationships with voter...

Gov. Abba refutes rumors of rift with Kwankwaso

Image
Abba Kabir Yusuf, Governor of Kano State, has dismissed reports of any split between him and his mentor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). Speaking at a ceremony in Madobi to mark Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, Yusuf described Kwankwaso as a “God-given leader” whose ideals continue to underpin governance in Kano. Yusuf addressed speculation that a faction within the party — known as “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka”, reportedly led by Baffa Bichi and Salisu Digol — was seeking to alter the power dynamics by promoting greater autonomy for the governor. He insisted such manoeuvres would not succeed. Reaffirming his commitment to the “Kwankwasiyya” movement, Yusuf pledged to uphold its values of discipline, service and good governance, and prayed for Kwankwaso’s long life and health so he may continue guiding their political journey. Analysts believe this renewed alliance is intended to soothe intra-party tensions ahead of the 2027 general electio...
