Sowore arrested in court

Human rights activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore was apprehended on Thursday inside the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja by armed policemen.

Sowore had reportedly attended court for proceedings when officers moved in and took him into custody.

A close associate revealed that the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory had previously issued an invitation to Sowore, although the arrest happened suddenly and without an explicit prior warning.

At this stage, details regarding specific charges or the next steps for Sowore’s case have not been publicly disclosed.
